Sangria

When it comes to sangria, one may conjure up images of red wine, fruits and cinnamon. It takes us to the hot summer nights in Spain.

Sangria is one of the symbols of Spain and its cuisine. Besides with red wine, this icy alcoholic beverage is also offered with rosé, white wine, brandy and rum. It is one of the most delightful drinks for the summer months. Its name comes from the Spanish word sangre - blood. White Sangria, in contrast, is made with white wine, fruits and carbonated water.

Sangria, this light and refreshing drink, is one you can make at home without a problem. Here's how:

To prepare a light icy cocktail with which to cool off during the summer heat, obtain quality products. If you choose cheap knockoffs, the desired effect won't be the same.

One of the most favored drinks is lemon-peach sangria. The fruits in it add a nice aroma without being intrusive.

Sangria with Lemons and Peaches

Ingredients: 3 cups red wine, 3 1/3 tbsp cognac, 3 tbsp brown sugar, 1 lemon, 1 orange, 1 apple, 1 peach/nectarine, 1 cinnamon stick.

Sangria recipe

Preparation: Wash all the fruits thoroughly. Cut the orange in 2. Drain the juice of 1 half, dice the other coarsely without peeling it. Dice all of the other fruits into cubes of the same size. Mix all of this in a large pitcher - with a volume of at least 6 1/5 cups (1.5 L).

To the fruits add the drained orange juice, sugar, cognac and finally the cinnamon stick as well. Stir until the sugar melts.

Leave the mixture for 2 hours in the fridge so the flavors blend together. Then pour in the wine. Keep the prepared sangria in the fridge.

To be truly refreshing, it needs to be very cold. When serving, drop pieces of fruit in the glass. They take on the taste of the wine and transform into a genuine delicacy.
