"A tasty and majestic phyllo pastry for New Year`s. All the fortunes in it will come true to the last."

Ingredients

  • flour - 2 lb (1 kg)
  • water - 1 cup
  • oil - 4 tablespoons
  • vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • butter - 1 packet (1/2 cup (125 g))
  • feta cheese - 10.5 oz (300 g)
  • cottage cheese - about 3.5 oz (100 g)
  • eggs - 6
  • yoghurt - 4 tablespoons
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 pinch

How to make

Sift the flour and while adding the water, vinegar, salt, oil and 1 egg, knead the dough until it becomes bubbly. Allow it to rest for about half an hour. Divide it into separate pitas the size of a fist. Brush them with butter.

Put 3 pitas on top of each other and flatten them into sheets as thin as possible. Put the first sheet in a greased tray; if necessary, even out the edges. Smear it with melted butter. Prepare the filling by mixing the crumbled feta cheese, cottage cheese, 4 eggs, baking soda and yoghurt.

Spread some of the filling on the first sheet, place the second, add filling again and repeat until out of products. Place fortunes wrapped in aluminum foil in places. Smear the top of the pastry with the last egg. Put the new year fortune pastry to bake for about 35-45 minutes in a moderate oven.

Wrap the ready pastry with a towel until it cools.
