"Regardless of whatever fortune you get from the New Year`s Phyllo Pastry, the important thing is to get to eat some - as for everything else, whatever comes."

Ingredients

  • phyllo pastry - 1 packet, sheets
  • feta cheese - 6 oz (175 g)
  • topping
  • eggs - 4
  • yoghurt - 1 cup
  • oil - 1/5 cup (60 ml)
  • baking powder - 1 pinch
  • sesame seeds - for sprinkling

How to make

Beat the eggs in a bowl, add the yoghurt, mixed with the baking powder and oil. Crumble the feta cheese in a bowl, lay out the phyllo pastry sheets on the counter.

Take 1 phyllo pastry sheet, sprinkle with a bit of crumbled feta and ruffle it up like an accordion, then wrap into a spiral. Do this for all of the sheets, arrange them next to one another in an oiled tray.

Use a spoon to pour topping onto each piece, distribute the remaining feta cheese on top, sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated 390°F (200 °C) oven about 20 min. until golden. Take it out and cover with a towel.

Prepare small twigs of dogwood, wrap a hand written fortune around each one and stick them in the phyllo pastry. Serve on the table, spin the tray 3 times around and let everyone pick out a fortune with the corresponding slice of phyllo pastry.
