How To Make Rose Water at Home?

Rose water is a natural antiseptic that results from the steam distillation of essential oil.

It has a universal application and is most often used for tonic cleansing of the face and body. It is added to cosmetic products such as masks, balms, creams and more. In the form of compresses, it helps to eliminate puffiness under the eyes, by relieving swelling and tension and it removes dark circles.

Rose oil is also excellent in cooking. With its help, various confectionery, pastries and drinks are flavored. Last but not least, this fragrant rose petal water finds applications in perfumery.

And do you know how to make rose water at home?

All you need are a few handfuls of fresh rose petals, distilled water, a dry glass storage container. It is best, if you have the opportunity, to tear off the petals at the beginning of the day, when they are most fresh and fragrant.

The first step is to thoroughly wash the rose petals with water. Pour them into a pot and cover them with distilled water. Press down the leaves lightly, so that they are all under water. Put the pot on a low heat, until steam starts to come out of the water.

Then turn it off, close the lid and leave them to stew. After 24 hours, your homemade rose water will be ready. Store it in a clean bottle, preferably glass, before straining it.

Use it within seven days. If you have prepared a larger amount, you can freeze it and use it at a later stage.
