Distilled water is very easy to make and there is a very old method for it. With this method, you don't need any special materials to distill water at home. When you remove minerals and harmful chemicals from water, you actually get distilled water. People make distilled water for a variety of purposes, including drinking, watering plants, filling humidifiers, steam irons and even for fish tanks and aquariums.

How to distill water in a few easy steps:

1. In a large pot or stainless steel cauldron, fill several liters of tap water, so that the container is not full to the top (just over half way).

2. Take an iron grid or other suitable container to place on the bottom of the pot or cauldron (you can use the grid from the microwave grill). On the grid or vessel thus placed, place a glass bowl, which should not be filled with water, so if the water overflows into the bowl, you can pour from it.

3. Turn on the stove and place the pot or kettle on it. The water should become hot, but not boiling. For this, if the water boils, reduce the heat.

4. Creating the condensation effect with a hot/cold barrier. You can do this by inverting the lid of the container you are using and filling it with ice. When hot steam hits the cold lid, it will create condensation, which will cause droplets to form on the surface of the lid and fall into the glass bowl.

5. Allow the distillation process to continue, until enough distilled water is collected in the glass bowl ie. as much as is sufficient for your needs.

6. Once you've collected enough distilled water, remove the pot or kettle from the heat and carefully remove the lid, as undistilled water from the melted ice will have collected on it.

7. Remove the bowl of the obtained distilled water from the pot of hot water. Be careful when doing this, so that you don't burn yourself. You can wait for the water to cool before removing the bowl if you prefer. This will not spoil your homemade distilled water.

8. After the water has cooled, pour it into glass bottles, so that you can store it clean and you are done.
