Unhealthy foods are the main reason why people are at their worst physical and health conditions. As a result, numerous corporations and companies have managed to found empires based on healthy eating. In actuality, a large amount of the products that are advertised as an integral part of a balanced diet are completely fraudulent.
Experts claim that when the war on saturated fats kicked off several years ago, a bunch of fast food chains and supermarkets drastically changed their policies. They gradually excluded fat from their foods but to compensate for the taste, they began adding extreme amounts of sugar.
And ultimately, the labels that so boldly announce "low fat content" are actually a clever trick to get us to buy a processed product, completely loaded with sugar. Here are the food products to avoid the next time you see them on store shelves.
1. Salad Sauces
Yes we all know how healthy vegetables are. But many people are of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with a healthy salad that is generously smothered with a store-bought dressing. These sauces and dressings are overloaded with artificial chemicals, sugar and vegetable oils.
So instead of fooling yourself that you're eating a light vegetable lunch, you may as well get a piece of cake instead. But if you want to enhance the flavor of your salad, make the dressing yourself by using yoghurt, olive oil and spices.
2. Fruit Juices
A lot of people believe that if they drink a glass of orange juice in the morning, they'll be healthy and alert. There is no way for this to happen if the juice is not freshly squeezed in front of your very eyes.
All other nectars that are sold in cartons in fact have nothing to do with fruits. These beverages contain mostly water, tremendous amounts of sugar and various artificial flavors.
3. Whole-Grain Products
You've probably heard dozens of times that whole-grain products are good for the heart, as well as for weight. However, the whole-grain bread that is massively sold in stores has a similar glycemic index to white bread.
This is owed to the fact that the wheat grains are pulverized into very pure flour, i.e. they raise blood sugar at the same rate as their refined "cousins". That which fools consumers into believing in the beneficial effects of this type of bread is the color, which is achieved entirely using artificial colors.
