A well-made thickener gives the dish a specific rich taste and aroma, which makes you immediately grab and eat a whole bowl of beans with sausage for example.
Two types of thickeners are usually prepared, which are added to different dishes. Onion, paprika, flour and oil thickener is suitable when preparing a lentil stew or beans.
Many housewives also prepare a softer thickener, the so-called stewed thickener, for which you need onions, carrots, tomatoes (tomato sauce) and spices, as well as oil.
Heat the fat and add the finely chopped onion in it. Fry over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it softens and then add the finely chopped carrots.
It is always good to fry carrots during cooking, because in the process of cooking the carotenes in carrots turn into more active forms and form new antioxidants.
Once the carrots soften, you can add the rest of the thickener ingredients - tomato sauce, celery and green spices. Allow them to simmer over low heat until the vegetables have completely softened and add it to the dish to enrich its taste.
