Without light, the fruit ripen faster, while green bananas absorb the ethylene released by the ripe bananas, which speeds up the ripening process.

Another option is to put a ripe tomato or avocado next to the bananas - the natural ethylene from the fruit will allow the bananas to ripen faster.
