If guests come to you unexpectedly, you can quickly surprise them and treat them with something easy and tasty. Make small cupcakes, also called muffins. They can be sweet or savory, you decide. To prepare them you will need flour, sugar, milk, oil, baking soda or baking powder.
For a better taste, you can add almonds, raisins, Turkish delight, pieces of chocolate or fruit to the sweet muffins according to the season. If you are going to make savory muffins, use white cheese, yellow cheese, olives, ham and spices such as savory herb, black pepper or hot paprika for a spicier taste, but only a pinch or two.
You can also add cinnamon, ginger powder or a grated fresh root, nutmeg or cloves to the sweet muffins. The preparation is easy. First mix the dry ingredients, separately mix the liquid ones and then mix them both. You should get a cake batter from the ingredients, but if it has more flour, it will harden, so be careful.
The dough is poured into paper muffin cups and fill up 2/3 of the volume of the cups with it. Sprinkle them on top with whatever you decide - maybe ground walnuts, pieces of fruit or chocolate.
Bake the muffins in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C) on medium heat in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until they're fully baked. However, the baking time for different muffins can vary - depending on the specific recipe.
If you want the muffins to be fluffy, sift the flour with the baking powder, that's the secret to fluffy muffins. They can be stored wrapped in foil and in the fridge.
When they surprise you, take them out and put them in the microwave for a while. Serve them as breakfast or a dessert with coffee or tea.
