How to Freeze and Defrost Bananas

Everyone knows that bananas are not a particularly durable product. They quickly brown and soften, soon after becoming unfit for consumption. But before that happens, we can just freeze them. In this way, we will not have to throw away the fruits, but we will store them for a long time and will stay fresh and aromatic.

Bananas are very easy to freeze. They can be placed in the freezer both unpeeled - directly with the peel, and peeled and even cut into circles. In the first case, almost nothing is required - just wash and dry the banana, then you can put it in a bag or container for freezing.

When you decide to defrost it, don't forget to cut it in half first. Let it sit for a while at room temperature and you will soon be able to eat it or use it to make a cake, for example. Don't stress that the skin of the frozen banana is heavily browned - it doesn't matter at all, because the inside is in perfect condition.

In case you choose to freeze the peeled bananas that you have in excess, you have the option of leaving them whole or cutting them into circles. In both cases, you have to follow one rule so that when you defrost you have healthy, non-sticking bananas. Place whole peeled bananas or sliced bananas on foil to freeze. It is important that they do not touch.

Put them in the freezer like this for a short time - approximately for about an hour. Then take them out and put it together in freezer bags. Try to create maximum vacuum by removing the air from the envelope. When defrosted, you will have healthy and well-separated bananas that you can take out one by one.

A very interesting and effective way is to freeze mashed bananas. The banana puree can be placed in individual small freezer bags or containers, but it would be much more interesting if you used freezer molds.

Defrosted molds of banana puree are refreshing and are good for flavoring yogurt or milk. You will enjoy a wonderful refreshing shake on summer days.
