Can Cherries and Morello Cherries be Frozen?

Freezing fruit and vegetables is a very good way to stock up on products for the winter.

Freezing is preferable because it avoids the additives used in canning and also preserves a large part of the useful substances and taste of the product.

Cherries and morello cherries are fruit that we can successfully store in our freezer. For this purpose, it is important to choose well-ripened (not overripe), healthy fruit. They must be washed, their stems and seeds removed immediately before being placed in the bag or container in which they will be stored.

The amount of fruit should be distributed, so that in one bag is stored as much as we will need for a single cooking or direct consumption. It is not right for frozen fruit to be frozen once again.

Frozen cherries and morello cherries can be stored in the freezer for about twelve months. When we decide to use them, it is good to defrost them at room temperature.

Frozen fruit can be used to make purees, jelly, drinks, sweet sauces and fillings for cakes.
