Strawberries

Strawberries and cherries are some of the tastiest fruits. Consuming them is a feast for the senses, and their benefits are countless. However, how can we store these wonderful fruits?

Strawberries are extremely tasty, but unfortunately they spoil very quickly, especially if they are injured. Another prerequisite for rapid spoilage is storage in a very humid or very warm place.

It is best to store strawberries in the refrigerator, unwashed and placed in plastic bags. The other option is to put them in plastic bowls, but be sure to cover them.

Always remove rotten or soft strawberries because they will spoil the rest. In the refrigerator, strawberries can stay up to two or three days.

Frozen strawberries can be stored for up to nine months. Best way to preserve all their valuable qualities is quick freezing, but after preliminary washing and thorough drying.

Slow or repeated defrosting of this fruit is not recommended because a significant amount of vitamin C is lost. Defrost them in the microwave. Consume solid before they are completely soft.

Cherries

Cherries are a favorite fruit of many people. Delicious and fresh, they are one of the most long-awaited gifts of spring. See how we can keep them in top condition.

When buying cherries, choose those that are slightly glossy, firm but not too hard. The stem should be green, a yellow stem indicates overripe fruit.

Cherries are perishable and ripen quite quickly if left at room temperature. When you buy cherries, don't keep them in plastic bags for too long because they will squish and spoil faster.

You can refrigerate them by placing them in a perforated paper bag or small fruit basket for up to five or seven days.

To restore their freshness before consumption, soak them in cold water for about half an hour.

Frozen in the freezer, cherries can last up to a month. Place them in a box or bowl that can be sealed with a lid. You do not need to remove the stems. You will achieve the best effect if you put them in a vacuum sealed bag.

If desired, you can add sugar to the bag or bowl before freezing. That way you will have a very tasty dessert, at any time.
