Does Soda Bread Need to Rise?

The smell of soda bread in the home is the smell of coziness and warmth.

Every cook has their tried-and-tested recipe for soda bread, with the intricacies of preparing this delicious bread, to treat their family or guests with.

Unlike yeast bread, soda bread is quick to prepare and doesn't require rising.

After you knead it and spread it on the tray, you can let it rest for a few minutes (20-30), but if you don't have time, you can immediately put it in the oven.

However you prepare it, don't expect miracles. The Soda Bread will rise slightly, but by no means will it take on the dimensions of a puffy bread, which has been kneaded with yeast.

Here is my successful soda bread recipe that always works:

Yogurt - 1 cup

Baking soda - 1 tsp.

Eggs - 1 pc.

Oil - 2 tbsp.

Salt - 1 tsp.

Flour - about 500-600 g

Add the soda to the yogurt, add the rest of the ingredients (without the flour) and mix everything well. Then add the pre-sifted flour.

Knead a soft and non-sticky dough and put it in a tray covered with baking paper. Form a bread, pierce it with a fork and put it in a non preheated oven.

The oven is turned on at 180°C and the bread is baked for about 25-30 minutes.
