Bread dough

Anyone who has tasted homemade bread, knows what it tastes like. Of course, in our busy daily lives, we can hardly afford the luxury of kneading dough every day.

But if you have a special occasion coming up and want to please your loved ones with a delicious homemade bread, here you will find useful tips for its preparation.

There are many different recipes for homemade bread, in some of which, in addition to the basic components of flour, water, yeast and salt, various types of fat, milk and other additional ingredients are used. That's not a bad idea either, but if you want to make homemade bread in its simplest and most traditional form, here's how to do it:

As already mentioned, all you need is flour, water, yeast and salt. Usually, a medium-sized homemade bread requires a little more than 1 kg of flour.

Regarding the yeast, you can use both cubes and dry yeast, but I personally recommend the cubed one. Make sure it is fresh, this is very important. When you open the packet, the color should be sandy and the yeast should be soft to the touch.

You can use a different amount of yeast, depending on how fast you want the dough to rise. However, if you add too much yeast, there is a danger, that the bread will become crumbly after baking.

The best way to make a bread is to use half a cube - about 20 g of yeast. Dissolve it in advance in 500 ml of warm, but not hot, water. Stir well.

Then choose the container in which you will knead the dough. It can be a tray or other suitable container. Pour half of the flour, add half a teaspoon of salt and start slowly adding the water with the yeast dissolved in it, while kneading the dough at the same time.

Continue, until the dough becomes thick, but by no means hard. It shouldn't stick to your hands, but it should feel soft to the touch. Leave it to rise in a warm place.

After it doubles in volume, knead it again with a little flour, form the bread and bake in a heated oven (180-200°C) until the crust turns brown. Do not wrap the bread, just leave it to cool at room temperature.
