Sugar Sprinkles

Sugar sprinkles are used in cooking to decorate sponge cakes, cupcakes, muffins, creams and other sweets. In addition to ready-made from the store, they can also be prepared at home.

Obviously, just as all other recipes have their varieties, sugar sprinkles can be prepared in several ways.

1. Cornstarch Sugar Sprinkles

1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 and 1/2 tbsp. water

1 tablespoon light corn syrup

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

food coloring

Note: The corn syrup can be replaced with honey or glucose, by keeping the ratio 1:1.

Preparation:

1. In a medium-sized bowl, stir 1 cup of the powdered sugar, cornstarch, water, corn syrup and vanilla extract. A homogeneous mixture should be obtained;

2. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of powdered sugar to the mixture. It is added later to make it easier to mix;

3. The mixture is colored with the desired color. The mixture can be divided into 2-3 parts and colored with a different color;

4. The mixture is transferred to a piping bag. If it is Wilton, a N4 tip is used;

5. Place baking paper on a flat surface. Thin and long and straight lines are made with the piping bag;

6. Allow them to dry and harden for at least 12 hours;

7. After the lines have dried, they are peeled off the paper and with the help of a knife, they are made into the desired size.

They can be stored well in an airtight container.

2. Sugar Sprinkles with Egg White

Egg Whites

3 cups powdered sugar

3 large egg whites

vanilla or almond extract

food coloring

Preparation:

Like making meringues, powdered sugar and egg whites are beaten into a fluffy white mixture. The flavor of vanilla, almond or a flavor of your choice is also added. The mixture is colored and continue in the same way - piping out the shapes, drying, breaking.

3. Sugar Sprinkles with Fondant

The rest of the dough is rolled out into a thin sheet and with the help of a piping bag, make small figures or make horizontal lines. Allow it to dry and break it into small pieces.
