"Homemade sage jam that we can`t wait to try in cakes, on a slice of bread or in any other form"

Ingredients

  • sage - 10.5 oz (300 g)
  • water - 8 cups (2 L)
  • lemons - 2 pcs.
  • sugar - 3.3 lb (1.5 kg)
measures

How to make

Pick the well-bloomed flowers. Put them in a pot and cover them with 2 liters of cold water.

Add one lemon, which is cut into large pieces. Put the pot on the stove and after it boils, boil the flowers for another 10 minutes.

Remove it from the heat, leave it for 7-8 hours in a cold place.

Filter the cooled liquid through a strainer covered with a piece of cheesecloth. Add a kilogram and a half of sugar to it.

Put it on the stove again and boil the jam, until it thickens. Give yourself time, because it isn't made fast.

Test if the jam is ready by dropping a drop into a plate - if it is too liquid, boil it to a thicker consistency.

Shortly before removing the pot from the heat, pour the juice of one lemon.

Distribute the sage jam into warmed, dry jars and turn them upside down, until they have completely cooled.

This homemade jam is very aromatic!

Enjoy!
