"Aromatic egg-free buhti with yogurt"

Ingredients

  • flour - 12 oz (350 g)
  • yogurt - 10.5 oz (300 g) strained, high fat
  • baking soda - 1 tsp. with a tip
  • milk - 4 - 5 tbsp.
  • crystal sugar - 1 tbsp.
  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling
  • oil - for frying

How to make

Quick buhti, that you can make in the mornings when you don't have much time and you want to provide your family with a delicious breakfast.

The first thing you need to do is add the soda in the strained yogurt and leave it to foam.

Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with the sugar and salt. Pour the foamy yoghurt and stir by pouring the spoons of milk. Add enough milk, in order to make a soft and sticky dough.

Heat the oil over a moderate heat and scoop out the soft dough with a spoon and push it into the fat with another spoon. You can also shape the buhti with your hand, which should be greased well.

Fry them until they aquire a golden color and place them onto kitchen paper, which will absorb the excess fat.

Once they have slightly cooled, sprinkle them with powdered sugar and you can optionally serve them with jam of your choice.
