Ingredients

  • prunes - 2.2 lb (1 kg), pitted
  • flour - 0.9 lb (400 g)
  • butter - 9.5 oz (270 g) cold, chopped
  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • yolks - 1 pc.
  • sugar - 4.6 oz (130 g)
  • baking powder - 1/2 pc.
  • vanilla
  • salt - 1 pinch
  • lemons - 1 pc. (peel, grated)
  • cinnamon - for sprinkling (optional)

How to make

For this delicious prune pastry, knead the dough, but do not knead it for too long. Divide it into three parts.

Two parts for the layers and one part for the top. Spread the dough out on the bottom of a 11″ (29 cm) baking pan.

Arrange the plums (cut in half) on top, sprinkled with 3 tablespoons of sugar and a little cinnamon, if you like.

Grate the dough, that you set aside, on a large grater on top of the plums.

Bake the German cake with prunes at 360°F (180 degrees) for 45-50 minutes until it aquires golden brown color.

The chilled German cake is sprinkled with powdered sugar.
