How to make
Wash the prunes, remove their pits and allow them to soak in a little apple juice. Add the raisins and a little cinnamon if desired.
With some of sifted flour and yeast dissolved in the cooled milk, knead a small piece of dough. Beat the butter, sugar, salt and eggs together with the risen dough and remaining flour into foam.
Put 3/4 of the risen dough into a buttered cake form, cover with the drained prunes and cut the rest of the dough into strips, arrange them on top of the prunes.
Smear the cake with beaten egg and bake in a moderately hot oven. Optionally, sprinkle the finished cake with powdered sugar.
