How to make
Preheat the oven to 360°F (180 °C) and grease a pie form with a diameter of about 9″ (23 cm). Grind the walnuts to powder and mix them in a large bowl with the flour, sugar and salt.
Add the cooled butter and mash it with your hands to get a crumbly, and then smooth dough. Spread it in the bottom of the form by pressing with your hands to the bottom and sides.
Put to bake until golden, about 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, crush the chocolate for the filling into pieces and melt it with the butter in a container in a water bath on the stove.
Separately, beat the egg yolks with half the sugar, add them to the cooled chocolate mixture and mix well.
Pour in the vanilla and gently stir with the egg whites that you've beaten to snow with the remaining sugar beforehand.
Pour the chocolate filling over the crust and put it back in the oven to bake for about 30 minutes.
Serve the French chocolate pie with whipped cream once cooled.
