"Tastier than fritters, more aromatic than mekitsi - none other than our Fried Fritter Balloons."

Ingredients

  • flour - 2 cups
  • baking powder - 1 packet
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • butter - 2 tablespoons, soft
  • carbonated water - about 1 cup
  • oil - for frying
  • powdered sugar
  • honey
measures

How to make

Pour the flour in a tray and form a well. Sprinkle the baking powder and salt in the middle, stir with the flour. Add the soft butter and rub the mixture between your palms to make crumbs.

Pour in 1 cup carbonated water, heat it just a little (not hot) in the microwave - to 90°F (30 °C). Stir with a fork and once you form it into a ball, knead a medium soft dough.

Leave the dough to rest for 15 min.

Divide it into 4 parts, roll out each one to 5/64 (2 mm) thick, cut out circles 4″ (10 cm) in diameter. Heat oil in a pan and fry them on moderate heat on both sides, while flipping them over carefully.

Take the ready balloons out onto a napkin. It's best if they're not on top of each other so they don't flatten. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or honey.

A tasty breakfast that's neither fritters nor mekitsi. Recipe is from the internet! I rolled out part of the dough into sticks 3″ (8 cm) long and fried them until golden.

A spectacular taste + easy to make!
