"Each dish is much tastier with a piece of warm homemade bread and this recipe for Albanian Bread is really great"

Ingredients

  • flour - 10.6 oz (300 g) + for sprinkling
  • yogurt - 8.8 oz (250 g)
  • olive oil - 1 1/3 tbsp (20 ml)
  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • sugar - 1 pinch
  • baking soda - 1 tsp. (5 g)
  • vinegar - 1 tsp. (optional)
measures

How to make

Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with the salt and sugar.

A well is made in the middle, in which the yoghurt is poured into, which in case it is not homemade and sour enough, a teaspoon of vinegar is added to.

Add the soda in the milk and stir. Leave it to activate for 2-3 minutes.

Pour the olive oil - 1 tbsp (15 ml) and the rest is used to grease your hands.

Stir with a spatula or wooden spoon, until the flour absorbs the milk, then knead by hand, until a smooth bread dough is obtained. Your hands need to be greased, so that it doesn't stick and if necessary, sprinkle it with more flour.

The soda bread dough does not need to be kneaded for long, but only for as long as it takes for a smooth dough to be obtained.

It is then formed into round bread (it can be thicker or flatter) and it is placed in a greased or covered with baking paper tray. It should not be left to rise.

Sprinkle it with flour and make a cross cut on the surface.

The delicious bread is baked in a preheated oven at 370°F (190 degrees) until it aquires a golden brown color (about 35 minutes).

The baked Albanian Bread is left to cool completely on a wire rack and it is then served.

Enjoy your meal!
