How to make
Warm the milk to body temperature of 100°F (37°C). Add the fresh basil leaves to it and blend.
Crush the yeast in the basil milk, pour the sugar and mix. Leave the mixture to activate.
Sift the flour into a bowl, make a well in the middle and beat the egg into it, pour the oil and activated yeast.
Knead a smooth, soft and pleasant green colored dough. Shape it into an oblong bread loaf and place it in a rectangular cake tin, which has been greased and floured.
Sprinkle a little flour on top and cover with foil or a large cake box lid to prevent the dough from sticking when it rises. Let it rise for about 50 minutes or until it has puffed up and doubled in size.
Bake the basil bread at 360°F (180°C) in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
Leave the finished bread in the baking pan for 5 minutes and then remove and place it on a wire rack to cool.
Make sandwiches, toast slices with it and combine it with favorite spreads or simply drizzled with olive oil for breakfast.
Aromatic, irresistible and delicious!
