"At home this is everyones favorite syrup cake"

Ingredients

  • liquid cream - 1 cup (200 ml), 35%
  • milk - 1 cup (200 ml)
  • condensed milk - 1 cup (200 ml)
  • flour - 4.2 oz (120 g)
  • sugar - 3.9 oz (110 g)
  • vanilla sugar - 2 tsp.
  • eggs - 4 pcs.
  • butter - 1 tbsp.
  • salt - 1 pinch

How to make

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Add the two types of sugar to the yolks and beat until the mixture turns white.

In a dry bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt.

Combine the two mixtures with smooth movements. Finally, add the flour, by sifting it gradually. Stir gently to obtain a nice and fluffy dough.

Prepare a cake tin with a diameter of 70°F (22 cm) and grease it. Pour the sponge cake dough inside.

Preheat the oven to 360°F (180 degrees) and bake it for about 20-25 minutes.

When the sponge cake is ready, remove it from the oven. Mix and beat the milk, condensed milk and cream until it's done.

Pierce the sponge cake in several places with a stick or fork and pour the dairy cream over it. Place the syrup cake in the refrigerator for a few hours to cool and absorb the cream.

The Classic Albanian Trilece is ready.
