"It doesnt matter if the cabbage is tastier because of the pork shank or because the pork shank is more tender because of the cabbage. The most important thing is that combined together they are simply irresistible"

Ingredients

  • pork shank - 3.3 lb (1.5 kg)
  • sauerkraut - 1 cabbage
  • black pepper
  • paprika
  • cumin
  • oil
  • salt
  • water
  • spicy paprika - for sprinkling

How to make

Cut the sauerkraut, mix it with black pepper, paprika and your desired amount of cumin. Place it in a suitable baking pan and drizzle oil over it.

Place the pork shanks on top, rubbed on all sides with black pepper, paprika and cumin.

Add a little water or cabbage juice and bake for about 1 hour in a preheated oven at 390°F (200 degrees).

Reduce heat and bake for another 1-1.5 hours until the meat is fully cooked and the cabbage is left only in its fat.

Before serving, if desired, sprinkle with ground pepper. Enjoy!
