How to make
Put the cleaned lentils in a deep pot, cover with water and boil for 5 minutes. Then pour them into a colander to drain.
In a pot, heat the oil and fry the onion that you've cut into small slices, the finely diced bacon and half the crushed garlic for about 5 minutes. Add more oil and add the remaining garlic, then the chopped thin slices of carrot, celery, tomatoes, oregano, lentils, 4 1/5 cups (1 liter) of water and the other spices.
Cover the pot with a lid and boil on a slow fire until the lentils are fully cooked. Optionally, serve the lentils with bread croutons that you've fried or baked with a little oil and mixed spices.
