Honey is one of the first products we reach for when we feel that we're getting sick. It is easily absorbed by the body and provides energy.
Added to tea or eaten on its own, Honey alleviates sore throat, aids against dry cough.
Besides to traditional herbal tea, this product can be added to wine and function as yet another homemade remedy. Let us present you 2 recipes that can help especially if you've been terribly sick and have a weakened immunity.
- For the first recipe, you will need 2 lb (1 kg) of honey and 4 1/5 cups (1 L) white wine. Mix them in a suitable container and add ground leaves of agave to them.
Leave the blend in a cool, dark area for 40 days. It is advised to shake the blend every day. After the days have passed, strain the mixture and put it in a refrigerator.
Drink 1 tsp of it 3 times a day. It is advisable to take it before meals. Wait 10 days and increase the dosage to 1 tablespoon. Before eating from it, shake the container it is in well.
- The next recipe is more flavorful - for it you will need 2 lemons and oranges and some nutmeg. Cut the citruses and combine them with the grated nutmeg and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Then pour 8 1/3 cups (2 L) of dry wine over the mixture.
Add 4/5 cup (200 g) of honey to the blend and begin boiling in a water bath. Boil 10 min. and take 1 tsp 3 times a day. Heat it up before drinking.
- In case you have a hoarse voice, you can also turn to honey and wine. A symptom such as hoarse voice may be an indication of strained vocal cords or something more serious.
Put 1 1/5 cups (300 ml) of wine and 2/5 cup (100 g) of honey in a pot on the stove. Once boiling, remove from the stove. Once cooled, you can take it in small sips 3 times a day. If desired, gargle with the liquid - this will also help.
