Spelt with Spinach

Spelt is a variety of wheat that is also known as the "Wheat of the Pharaohs". Even though this crop was known in ancient Egypt, most of the finds related to it have been discovered in Europe. There is even data on spelt in the South Caucasus, dating back to the 5th millennium BC.

Throughout the past century, spelt was replaced by common wheat almost everywhere in the world. This is due to the fact that spelt is not susceptible to any kind of modification. In contrast, wheat yields can be increased through fertilization and genetic modification.

In its composition there are high amounts of healthy nutrients, such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, fibers, mineral salts and vitamins.

In addition, the gluten in it is of a balanced quantity. It is especially appropriate for the preparation of baked goods.

Spelt is used in healthy eating. Its water-soluble components facilitate its quick absorption by the body. Actually, such absorption is typical only of liquid foods.

This in turn improves blood circulation, facilitates kidney function and purifies the body. Spelt is handled well by the body, while improving digestion at the same time.

All kinds of bakery goods (bread, macaroni, spaghetti, pastas) are made from spelt. Various products, such as soups, porridges, bio meatballs, muesli and all kinds of healthy desserts are made from it.

Bread made from spelt is not only healthy but tasty as well. It is characterized by a remarkable taste and indescribable flavor. Some describe it as being akin to grilled cheese. Flour from spelt can be used in all recipes for cakes, cookies and muffins.

In the culinary arts, they also use boiled spelt. Potatoes and rice can be substituted with it in main courses.

A little-known fact is that besides eating, spelt can also be drunk instead of coffee. To make it that way, first it is roasted, then boiled.

Another usable part of the plant is the husks. They are used in industrial production. Spelt husks are used to fill mattresses and pillows.

Using them has an analgesic effect, they get rid of pain in the joints and muscles and relieve colic in newborns. They do not allow acari to develop and accommodate the body's shape.
