More and more people exclude dairy products from their menu. Some for health reasons, others give up animal products entirely and others simply follow a specific diet.
However, everyone faces difficulties when they decide to replace dairy products, because both milk, white cheese and cheese are some of the most loved food products worldwide.
In addition, they are easy to eat and find a place in many of the classic recipes and dishes. Therefore, the search for a quality alternative is sometimes difficult. Fortunately, we have prepared some suggestions for you.
Nut milk instead of cow's milk
Milk is among the products that have the most alternatives. These are nut and vegetable milks. Almond milk is one option. It is low-calorie - a cup of it contains only 39 calories, 1 gram of protein and 2.5 grams of fat. It doesn't have as strong a nutty flavor compared to other plant-based milk, so it's a good alternative to start with.
Soy milk is another option. It is recommended for people who have lactose intolerance. A cup of it contains as many as 7 grams of protein, 4 grams of fat and 80 calories. You can also try rice milk, coconut milk, cashew milk.
Cow butter alternative
Butter is another dairy product, which is very necessary in cooking. There are also many substitutes for butter and they are quite affordable. For frying and for heat treatment at high temperatures, coconut oil is a perfect substitute, because it has no carcinogenic properties when heated.
If you are preparing savory foods, choose a non flavored option. If you choose classic, you can neutralize its aroma and its sweet taste with a pinch of salt. Olive oil is another alternative. However, it is not suitable for baking and frying, but rather for sautéing.
Cheese substitutes
There are also alternatives to cheese. Nut cheeses are increasingly popular. You might find cashew cheese or tofu in stores. They are suitable for pasta, for salad and for sandwiches. An alternative to Parmesan is the so-called vegan parmesan that is made with brewer's yeast, which has a similar flavor and is also hard-flaked.
Yogurt substitute
Yogurt is the hardest to substitute. There are different options in the shops – again cashew, soy or almond yogurt. However, you should not expect the same taste from them. But they are perfect for fruit creams, as well as for a morning breakfast with oats and fruit.
