Breadcrumbs is ground dry bread, which is mainly used for breading fish, meat and vegetables, according to the most popular definition of this product. But in the process of cooking and especially breading, you may find out that you're out of breadcrumbs and that can happen to anyone.
This should not be a cause for panic, because breadcrumbs have a substitute and actually there's more than one.
Depending on the reason you want to replace the breadcrumbs and replace them with a similar product - for example, intolerance, allergies, etc. and for what purpose you want to use their substitute, there are various alternatives to breadcrumbs.
If you want to bread meat or fish, a good substitute would be cornstarch or corn flour in combination with paprika and black pepper, white flour and an egg.
Usually white flour can also replace breadcrumbs and in fact the dish will turn out crispy, but not as crispy as with breadcrumbs, which is the better option.
If you like the fact that breadcrumbs give food a crispy crust, then the most suitable substitute is corn flour. For the more adventurous cooks, we recommend trying to replace the breadcrumbs with finely crushed chips, nachos or cornflakes.
Breadcrumbs, as we have already said, are made from dry bread and like bread, have the properties to absorb as well as moisten, so it is good to consider, depending on the dish you have decided to prepare, whether it is good to use breadcrumbs or a substitute for them.
