How To Make Vegan Milk?

In order to make vegan milk, the most important thing is to stock up not only with good quality raw nuts and seeds, but also with a powerful blender. With it you can grind even hard nuts, such as coconut meat or walnuts, without problems and in minutes. Here are some basic recipes for vegan milk.

1. Almond milk

Almond milk is very popular among vegans because it is easy to prepare and tastes perfect as a substitute for cow's milk. With it you can make cappuccino and lattes, boil oatmeal, add to cocktails, make vegan pastries and pancakes.

In addition, almond milk is incredibly healthy, as it contains plant proteins, lipids, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, vitamins E and group B and it has twice as much calcium as cow's milk. Exactly! 100 ml of cow's milk contains only 120-150 mg. calcium, while the same amount of almond milk contains 273 mg.

To make this drink you will need raw nuts, which are not roasted. Just pour 1 cup of almonds with water and leave them overnight, rinse the nuts in the morning, transfer them into a blender, add 4-5 cups of filtered water and blend well for a few minutes. The end result will be a white thick liquid.

Strain it through cheesecloth or a very thick sieve and the almond milk is ready. The pulp left in the cheesecloth can be dried and it will turn into flour, which you can cook very tasty desserts with - from pastries to vegan pancakes.

2. Walnut milk

Walnuts are incredibly healthy. They contain a huge amount of various vitamins and minerals: A, E, C, groups B and PP, calcium, iodine, iron, phosphorus, etc. Like all nuts, walnuts are an excellent source of vegetable proteins and healthy unsaturated fats. The preparation of walnut milk is done in the same way as the almond milk.

The raw nuts (1 cup) are soaked overnight, washed in the morning, poured over with 5-6 glasses of water and blended in a powerful blender for a few minutes, then filtered through a sieve or a cheesecloth.

Walnut milk may taste slightly bitter, so you can add a natural sweetener such as honey, stevia, agave syrup or coconut sugar to it. According to the same recipe, you can make milk from any other nuts - hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, pecans.

Each type of vegan milk is unique in its composition, rich in macro and microelements and can also be used for various culinary purposes.
