Rice milk

Rice milk is extremely beneficial for health. However, it is not such a popular product and it is mainly consumed by vegetarians and lactose intolerant people. It is a food rich in vitamins and minerals. It helps lower bad cholesterol, supports the heart, boosts the immune system and can even serve as a skin exfoliant. Best of all, you can easily prepare it yourself at home.

Rice milk is made from boiled rice (white or brown) and can be slightly sweetened if desired. Otherwise, rice milk itself has a certain slightly sweet taste of its own, which arises from the natural enzymatic processes when carbohydrates are converted to sugars. Compared to cow's milk, rice milk has much more useful carbohydrates and at the same time much lower fat content.

Rice milk can be found and purchased in major hypermarkets in the dietary isles. However, homemade rice milk has many more advantages than store-bought. The main reason for this is that there will be no harmful preservatives in what you prepare and at the same time it will have the same healthy qualities as what is offered in the store.

To prepare half a liter of milk, you only need one liter of water, 125 grams of rice and 1 stick of vanilla or cinnamon (your choice).

The preparation itself is simple. Put the ingredients in a pot and turn on the stove at a moderate temperature, until the rice softens. Pull the pot off the stove and wait for the water to cool. Remove the vanilla (cinnamon) stick.

Put everything else in a blender. Blend well and leave the mixture for about an hour. Then you need to strain it through a multi-layer cheesecloth.

The milk is ready. It is recommended to store it in glass bottles in the refrigerator. The rice milk product has a longer shelf life than real milk.

With rice milk, we recommend preparing:

- delicious vegan pancakes;

- vegan cake;

- or other healthy desserts;
