How to prepare vanilla sugar
Place the sugar in an airtight container. Divide the vanilla pod in two, lengthwise. Using the tip of a sharp knife, scrape the seeds from the center of the pod and add it to the sugar; add the bean pod as well.
Seal the container and shake until they're mixed. Leave them covered for at least 1 week. Use as plain granulated sugar, when you throw away the bean pod as it has lost its aroma.
