How to Clean a Soy Sauce Stain?

Soy sauce causes deep dark staining when it gets on clothes and immediately makes you think the worst, that there is no removal. Here's what you need to remember to deal with a soy sauce stain:

Act fast if soy sauce gets on your clothes! The sooner you tackle the stain while it's still relatively wet, the easier it will be to remove.

Removing soy sauce stains from clothing involves treating the affected area with a clean cloth or sponge and a safe, cleaning agent.

In general, you will need:

- towel and/or paper towels;

- liquid detergent;

- bleach, such as white distilled vinegar, lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide (for white clothes only).

Start by absorbing the soy sauce from the clothes with a clean cloth or paper towel and pat it lightly. Rubbing can make the stain more difficult to remove.

Wet the garment in the area of the stain with cold water, this will help prevent the soy sauce from drying deeper into the fabric of the garment.

Spot clean with liquid detergent and gently rub it into the stain. Allow this preparation to remain on the affected area for 5-10 minutes to do its job.

Optional: Apply bleach to white or color-resistant clothing. White distilled vinegar and lemon juice are known to be suitable in such situations. Rub gently into the stain and rinse with cold water when finished.

Soak if you still notice the soy sauce stain remains after completing the above steps. Soak the clothes in a bowl of warm water and detergent for 30 minutes to 1 hour. For bolder stains, you might consider soaking overnight. You can consider applying a stain remover such as Vanish and washing the clothes afterwards.
