Porcini mushrooms are very tasty and healthy mushrooms. But do we know what they actually look like?
If you have also asked yourself the question what exactly do porcini mushrooms look like, you will find out in this advice.
Characteristics of porcini mushrooms
Here is what porcini mushrooms look like:
- The cap of the porcini mushroom looks like a hemisphere at first, then becomes flat. It is brown in color with some paler areas, mostly around its periphery.
The surface of the cap is smooth, but in some cases it is slightly wrinkled. The edge of the cap is slightly folded at first, but straightens as the mushroom grows.
The cap of the mushroom in most cases reaches no more than 20 cm in diameter, but you can also find mushrooms whose cap is larger;
- Tubes - in some younger specimens they are white, then over time they acquire a yellowish color. The pores of the mushroom are very small and are the same color as the tubes;
- Stump - the porcini mushroom stump is initially egg-shaped. Then it changes shape and becomes with a wider base. The stump is covered with a whitish web on a light and whitish background.
