How to Make Latte Macchiato?

Latte macchiato is an aromatic hot beverage made from milk and espresso coffee. The origin of macchiato is Italy and an interesting fact is that in the beginning it was prepared for children, so that they could drink coffee, but without consuming large amounts of caffeine.

Subsequently, latte macchiato gained worldwide popularity and began to be drunk by older people. It is served in a tall glass in three layers, which must be sharply distinguished from each other.

The bottom layer consists of hot milk, the middle is espresso and then there is milk foam, which gives the drink an extremely attractive look. You will wonder how espresso does not mix with the lowest layer of milk?

Very easy - espresso has a higher temperature than milk and has a lower density and that's how it remains above it. To get this effect, however, the coffee is poured last - ie. after the milk foam, so that it can move slower to the bottom.

To make a latte macchiato you need about 100 ml of milk and 1 cup of espresso. First make foam on the milk - for this purpose you can use the steam outlet of the espresso machine. Carefully pour the milk into a tall glass and hold the foam lightly with a spoon.

Then add the foam and finally carefully pour the espresso. Latte macchiato is extremely easy to prepare and the effect is a very pleasant drink with low caffeine content. If desired, you can decorate it with cocoa powder, a little cinnamon or chocolate shavings.
