You can easily make your own croutons, which you can use for creme soups, as well as some salads such as our favourite Caesar Salad.
Any bread, even the old one, is suitable for making croutons. It doesn't matter if it is white or rye. The important thing is for it not to be moldy.
The bread is cut into small cubes. Spread them in a tray and sprinkle them with a little olive oil or vegetable oil, then stir. If you want complete diet rusks, do not spray them with fat.
In order to make the croutons golden and crispy, while cutting the bread, preheat the oven to 360°F (180 degrees). Place the crouton tray in the oven.
After five minutes, when their color changes, turn off the oven and allow the croutons to dry completely until the oven cools.
You can prepare croutons with different spices to enrich the taste of the soup, dish or salad to which you're adding them to.
Croutons are very tasty if they are cooked with very little fat and salt. They go perfectly with beer and are a perfect substitute for popcorn while in front of the TV.
You can also make croutons in a pan. Cut the bread into cubes and fry them in a Teflon pan or in a regular pan with a little fat.
The butter croutons are prepared from 1/2 lb (200 grams) of bread, half a tea cup of milk, 2 tablespoons butter and your desired amount of salt. The bread is cut into cubes.
The cubes are dipped in the salted milk and fried, while constantly stirring on all sides in butter until they form a golden crust.
