"So since we`re talking about gyros, pork ones are my personal favorite."

Ingredients

  • pork steaks - 1.1 lb (500 g)
  • onions - 2 heads
  • black pepper - 1 pinch
  • basil - 1 pinch
  • dry marjoram - 1 pinch
  • salt - 1 pinch
  • rosmary - 1 pinch
  • olive oil - 1/2 cup

How to make

Wash and dry the meat. Tenderize the steaks thinly. Peel the onions and cut them into round slices. Mix the gyro spices with the olive oil and stir well.

Pour a few tbsp of the marinade in a tray, arrange a layer of steaks, pour marinade generously on top and arrange the onion slices. Repeat this arrangement until out of ingredients.

Cover the tray with foil and put in the fridge for the meat to marinate for a few hours or overnight. Once marinated, place the meat with the foil still on in a preheated oven and bake 30-40 min.

Remove the foil and pour the sauce over the meat. Bake another 40 min. or until ready. Cut the cooked meat into narrow, long strips and serve with tzatziki, French fries and Arabic pita bread if desired.
