How to make

Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Make a well in the middle and beat the egg in it. Pour the butter, vanilla and sugar and knead into a medium soft and crumbly shortbread pastry.

Shape it into a ball and wrap in cling film. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Roll out the hardened shortbread pastry onto a floured surface into a crust a little thinner than 1 cm. Use molds to cut out little people and circles. If you don't have molds, you can try cutting out Halloween figures from the dough according to your imagination.

Mix the powdered sugar with the egg white and beat with a fork until a thick homogeneous mixture is obtained. If it seems thin, add more powdered sugar. Separate half of the mixture and color one part, leave the other white (I have used Dr. Oetker's yellow and red paint, I mix the two to get orange).

Paint with a convenient utensil on the cookies. In my case, I turned the little men into skeletons, the circles into pumpkins and funny-scary little heads. You can create whatever you like.

Bake in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C) until slightly golden, about 12-15 minutes.

Leave them to cool before arranging them on a plate and serve them.

If you have any left over from the egg white-sugar mixture, decorate as the decoration may have become deformed somewhere during baking.

Enjoy!
