  • mozzarella - 7 oz (200 g)
  • dry bread - 1 slice
  • grated parmesan - 1.1 oz (30 g)
  • garlic - 1 clove
  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • nutmeg - a generous pinch
  • tomatoes - 10.5 oz (300 g)
  • fresh basil - 2 - 3 leaves
  • salt
  • olive oil - 1/2 cup
  • black pepper - a pinch

How to make

Put the minced meat in a bowl. Add the soaked and crumbled dry bread, the very finely chopped clove of garlic, one egg, season with a pinch of black pepper and a generous pinch of grated nutmeg.

Add the grated parmesan and mix the products very well. Leave the mixture in the refrigerator for an hour.

Shape small meatballs by placing a few cubes of sliced ​​mozzarella in the middle.

Arrange the meatballs in a greased baking pan and bake them in a preheated oven at 370°F (190°C) for 15 minutes. Remove the baking pan from the oven.

Pour the meatballs with the basil and salt seasoned crushed tomatoes and place them back into the oven. Bake the dish for about 20-25 minutes.

Then remove the baking pan from the oven and cover each meatball with a piece of mozzarella. Bake again for 5 minutes, until the mozzarella melts.

Serve the meatballs with mozzarella and tomato sauce with a salad of choice!
