Ingredients

  • dry bread - 5.3 oz (150 g)
  • milk - 1 cup (250 ml)
  • eggs - 3 pcs.
  • butter - 1.1 oz (30 g)
  • sugar - 2 tbsp.
  • grated lemon peel
  • strawberry jam
  • powdered sugar - 1 tbsp.

How to make

Crumble the dry bread and pour it with the milk. Leave it for 10 minutes, until it is well soaked and becomes mushy.

In a bowl, briefly beat the yolks with 2 tablespoons of sugar, pour the slightly melted butter and flavor with grated lemon peel.

Homogenize the products well.

Grease a small baking pan with melted butter.

Pour the prepared mixture, level it out and bake at 360°F (180°C) in a preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Remove the bread cake from oven and spread it generously with strawberry jam.

Beat the egg whites well with 1 tbsp. of powdered sugar.

Pour them over the jam and place the baking pan back into the oven to lightly brown the egg whites.

The bread and jam cake is very tasty!
