How to make
Oven - 340°F (170°C). A flat tray covered with baking paper.
In a bowl, mix the flour, vanilla, salt and powdered sugar. Mix with wire whisk.
Add the cold diced butter. Grind the mixture into crumbs with a hand held blender, if you don't have one, work with a fork or knife. Gradually add the icy water (3 to 4 tbsp.) and quickly knead the dough. Wrap it in foil and refrigerate it for 1 to 2 hours.
After it has cooled well, the dough is rolled out onto a lightly floured surface into a rectangular crust (about 3 mm). It is sprinkled with chocolate. Carefully fold it in half and roll it out again into a thin crust. Cut it into 10 to 12 strips, which are twisted and rolled into a pretzel shape.
Beat the egg white, until a foamy mixture is obtained and brush the pretzels. They are rolled in granulated sugar and sprinkled with almonds.
Place them in a tray covered with baking paper.
The pretzels are baked at 340°F (170°C) for about 12-15 minutes. They can be sprinkled with a little powdered sugar.
The Butter Pretzels are very tasty.
Note: In my main recipe Austrian Pretzel, I have explained exactly how to fold this wonderful pretzel. I did not twist the strips, but formed them into an elongater strip. Work quickly, so that the butter dough does not soften too much.
I crushed the chocolate in a blender. I did not use milk chocolate. I used dark chocolate for a better taste. About 8 pcs. we're obtained, but according to the original recipe, there should be between 10-12 pcs.
