How to make
The dates are soaked in water overnight, so that they can soften nicely.
Once this happens, they are strained and 5 tbsp from the water in which they were soaked in is preserved.
They are cut and the pit is removed. From soaking, the skin will swell, so it needs to be peeled off where it has risen.
The fruit are placed in a bowl with honey, water, vanilla, rum and cinnamon, if desired. Everything is strained or passed through a blender to achieve a fine consistency. It can be diluted with more water, depending on the density you want.
If you prefer it to be sweeter, add more honey.
The prepared jam is closed in a jar and consumed in various ways - with toasted slices of bread, in pastries and it goes very well with meat.
It is easy to prepare, does not require boiling and is extremely tasty and healthy.
The date jam is ready.
