How to make
Clean the sauerkraut from the core and finely chop it. Wash the pork legs. Put them in a pot, filled with water and add the baking soda.
Boil for 10-15 minutes, pour out the water and clean the pork legs. Wash them thoroughly again with clean water.
Put half of the chopped sauerkraut in a large pot, place the pork legs on top and cover them with the other half of the cabbage.
Pour warm water - enough to cover the cabbage. Add butter, sprinkle with curry and black pepper and boil for about 90 minutes under a lid.
After this time, sprinkle with paprika and boil for another half hour. Make sure there is water, because otherwise the cabbage will stick.
Transfer the finished cabbage into a baking pan and bake it in a preheated 390°F (200 degree) oven until it is fully cooked. Stir several times.
The pork legs with sauerkraut according to an old recipe are ready.
