"What we have for you today is an extremely low-cost but irresistible Bulgarian clay pot dish - guaranteed to leave you licking your fingers."

Ingredients

  • feta cheese - 21 oz (600 g)
  • tomatoes - 4 medium pieces
  • peppers - 4 pieces, roasted
  • butter - 1/3 cup (80 g)
  • eggs - 4 large or 8 small
  • oregano
measures

How to make

Smear the inner walls of each clay pot with butter.

Peel the tomatoes and cut them into round slices. Cut the roasted peppers into bits, the feta cheese into slabs.

At the bottom of each clay pot, put 2 slices of tomato, then a slab of feta, roast pepper on top, feta again, sprinkle oregano, place pepper bits again, feta and then tomato. Finish off with pieces of butter on top of the tomato.

Put the clay pots in a cold oven, turn it up to 390°F (200 °C) and bake about 20 min. Then break 1-2 eggs into each and bake without the lid until the eggs crisp.
