Frozen Peas

Contrary to popular belief it turns out that when frozen foods are prepared properly, not only are they not unhealthy but they can even be beneficial to our health.

Unlike the fresh products we buy from stores that have lost a large portion of their vitamins while sitting at the stands, frozen products are frozen at low temperatures immediately after being picked and retain their healthy substances almost entirely.

This fully applies to frozen peas, which contain significant amounts of vitamins В1, В2, В6 and С. Here are a few tasty recipes with which you can cook up some finger-licking frozen peas dishes.

Pea Gratin

Ingredients: 2 lb frozen peas, 2/5 cup butter, 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 4 tbsp flour, 9 oz tomatoes, 3.5 oz cheese, 1 bunch dill, salt and black pepper to taste.

Preparation: Put the frozen peas in boiling salted water and boil until softened. Once ready, transfer them to an oven dish along with the finely chopped dill and chopped tomatoes. Make a sauce from the butter, flour and milk and pour it over the peas, and if necessary add black pepper and more salt. Bake all of this in a preheated oven and shortly before it reddens sprinkle with the grated cheese.

Frozen Pea Soup

Cream Soup with Frozen Peas

Ingredients: 1 onion head, 2 carrots, 3 medium sized potatoes, 3 1/3 tbsp butter, 4/5 cup frozen peas, 1/2 bunch finely chopped parsley, salt and black pepper to taste.

Preparation: Chop the onion and carrots and put them in boiling salted water. After about 10 min. add the chopped potatoes to them and once these products soften, put in the butter as well. Mash everything, add more salt if needed and with the heat reduced, add the frozen peas (which will be ready after about 10 min.). Season the prepared soup with black pepper and sprinkle with the parsley.

Frozen Pea Stew

Ingredients: 2 lb frozen peas, 1 onion head, 2 tomatoes, 1/2 cup oil, 2 tbsp flour, salt, paprika and black pepper to taste, finely chopped dill and parsley for sprinkling.

Preparation: Saute the onion in a little oil, add water and once it comes to a boil put in the peas. Once they soften, dilute the flour and paprika with the finely chopped tomatoes and pour them into the pot. Once this sauce thickens, after about 10 min., add the black pepper and more salt if needed, finally sprinkle with dill and parsley.
