Stomach acids are not dangerous but the sensation they cause is not at all pleasant. Luckily, there are several foods that can effectively save us from the acids.
Foods rich in calcium
Calcium has the ability to reduce the secretion of stomach acids, which is why foods rich in this mineral effectively combat the problem. Examples include milk, broccoli, kale and other dairy products, such as cottage cheese.
Foods rich in calcium can be combined with foods rich in potassium for a quicker effect on the stomach acids. An example of such a combo is milk and honey.
Fish and other seafood
Fish, squid, shrimp, mussels and other seafood are rich in the acid taurine, which easily deals with stomach acids. Just like calcium, taurine helps to limit acids.
Raw fruits and vegetables
Raw fruits and vegetables are loaded with enzymes that decrease stomach acidity. Vegetables need to be eaten raw, because if they are subjected to heat treatment they will change their alkali content, which treats stomach acids.
Whole grain products
Products such as quinoa, amaranth and millet contain a high amount of potassium, which relieves stomach acidity. These products are also rich in proteins, B vitamins, calcium and other healthy ingredients that are very important for people that often suffer from high stomach acid.
Experiments have shown that stomach acids can be treated successfully with lemon and vinegar. Melons too are very useful in getting rid of that unpleasant feeling.
The main foods that cause these problems are oranges, coffee and chocolate. Alcohol and sodas are also a sure way to provoke stomach acids.
People that regularly have such problems must change their eating habits entirely. Products that increase acidity must be removed from their menu, while physical exercises and the limiting of stress need to occur on a daily basis.
