Black pepper is a well-known spice, which is often used in folk medicine as well. It is most applied against colds. However, the spice is also exceptionally effective against cough, sore throat, as well as headaches.
Further, it has been proven that black pepper can soothe sinusitis, bronchial pneumonia, stabbing pains due to nerves and others.
To alleviate sore throat, make a compress using a paper towel, black pepper and pork lard. Smear the paper towel with the lard and sprinkle generously with the ground black pepper. Then apply the compression and wrap it with a wool scarf. You will feel a warming sensation in your throat - if your skin begins to redden, remove the compression.
If suffering from a severe and unpleasant cough, mix together 2/5 cup (100 g) honey with 1 2/3 tbsp (25 g) ground black pepper. To them you must also add grated nutmeg and 3 1/3 tbsp (50 g) ground flax. Stir the mixture well and take 1 tablespoon before meals in the morning and in the evening.
If you have a cold, the easiest way for a fast recovery is to make mulled wine with black pepper. Bronchial pneumonia can be treated with a cotton cloth, brandy and black pepper.
Soak the cloth with brandy, then sprinkle black pepper on top. Put the compression on the chest of the sick person, place a paper towel on top (can use a newspaper pierced with a needle), then a wool scarf. Just be sure not to apply the compression in the area of the heart.
For joint pains, you can make an ointment. Put a cup of olive oil and 1 tablespoon ground black pepper in a suitable container. Put the container to come to a boil on low heat, then let it simmer between 5 and 10 min. Remove from the heat and let it cool, then strain the ointment. Use the mixture to rub on the problem areas.
For tonsillitis and a severe cough, combine 1 cup of honey with 1 tablespoon ground black pepper and stir. Take 1 tsp of the blend 4 times daily.
