It is the richness of some vitamins and minerals in raw potatoes that makes them a very good choice for cleansing the skin and treating dermatitis. They can also be useful for burns, speeding up the healing process and reducing the risk of infections.

The water in which potatoes are boiled is known for its effect in treating rheumatism. And crushed raw potatoes are applied externally for inflammation. The use of potatoes is also a known remedy for high blood pressure.

People with diabetes, however, should be careful, since insulin injections can have the aforementioned effect and the use of potatoes can cause more harm than good.

In addition to everything that was mentioned earlier, potatoes are good for our brain activity and mental health in general, because they contain omega-3 acids and vitamins that the brain needs to function optimally. The many minerals that are part of this vegetable are good for the heart and kidneys.

However, we must not forget that excessive intake of potatoes can lead to weight gain and obesity. Also, green potatoes and potato leaves contain solanine and are known to be poisonous and should be avoided.

Unfortunately, many people eat potatoes in the form of French fries or chips, which further loads them with trans fats, which are so harmful to our health.

Baked potatoes can actually be quite healthy, but people usually add butter, cream, processed cheese or bacon to them. This makes them even more caloric and unsuitable for a diet.
