Herb butter is wonderful and can be used in any dish where it is possible to add herbs: pastries, pasta, stewed vegetables, mashed potatoes, fish and many others.
While all of the above ideas are great, it is perhaps best paired with fresh bread. It is a real pleasure to spread it on a piece of warm bread. The flavor of the herbs just come alive and the enjoyment is incredible. Herb butter is easy to make and can easily be stored in your freezer.
Its easy storage and the fact that it can always be at hand when you are busy in the kitchen, making it an easily accessible and incredibly tasty addition to your meals.
This is a recipe you can make anytime - when the herbs in your garden are ready or you've bought too many and don't know what to do with them.
Products required:
1/2 cup of butter (at room temperature);
1/4 cup of finely chopped herbs of your choice;
sea salt and black pepper - by taste;
a spoonful of lemon juice (optional)
Any combination of herbs is possible here. Try a mixture of some of the following: parsley, dill, rosemary, thyme, sage or use just one herb. The only condition is that they should be cut as finely as possible.
Mix the butter and herbs together with a fork. Add the lemon juice and spices. Put it on plastic wrap and shape it into a salami shape. This way, the herb butter can be stored for a week in the refrigerator or a month in the freezer.
When you're ready to use it, simply cut off a piece and place it directly on top of the hot food and all that's left to do is enjoy the amazing flavor it acquires thanks to this simple addition.
